In 1971, brother Stephan and Jimmy Tsukayama opened Kailua Bike Shop on Ulumiu Street. A year later, the infamous Energy Crisis was upon us. Bike sales soared and with the additional capital the company expanded into the wholesaling of packaged plant items. to appeal to the tourist industry, "HIC Clothing" was composed in 1972 In October 1995, HIC opened in Haleiwa Town on the North Shore of Oahu. Presently Coral Head in California is the national HIC clothing distributor.
